Deadly Force
It is a sad thing that our nations Law enforcement uses deadly force much to often when policing our streets. Our police forces are highly trained on how to take down criminals or suspects when the need arises and in to many cases deadly force is used when there are many other methods to render these persons helpless and let the officers subdue and restrain them from causing any harm with no need for them to use their firearm.
In the 1960's and 70's demonstrations were very wide spread due to the Vietnam War and a period when law enforcement came up with several non-lethal methods to effectively deal with the situations they were confronted with. These methods are used today with few casualties. The same is the case when confronting criminals or suspected criminals black, white, brown, red or yellow without prejudice. We have the technology to make non-lethal apprehensions of these individuals instead of using deadly force.
Our modern day law enforcement officers are highly trained in the use of firearms and are highly accurate to hit what they are aiming at. With that being said there is no reason they can't target the offenders extremities to render them helpless unless the officer is fired upon. If the officer is fired upon all gloves are off and deadly force should be used. There is also other methods for the officers to put a suspect down to where he can be apprehended safely and the following weapons can be used:
1. 12 gauge stun wads used with a shotgun that will render the suspect temporally non-combative to where the officer can subdue him
2. 20mm sand or clay stun packs shot from a 20mm handheld firearm that will render the suspect temporally non-combative to where the officer can subdue him
3. Holster carried electronic stun guns that will render the suspect temporally non-combative to where the officer can subdue him
4. Handheld electronic stun guns applied when suspect is down to make them more subdued to be secured
These are a few of the non-lethal methods that can minimize the shoot first mentality that is todays standard practice. These tools and others are available to ALL law enforcement agencies in America.
